The exciting story on loaves and fishes!

It began as the calling on two people's hearts listening to God. What originated as the purchase of the existing "Child's restaurant" in Pensacola, Florida has turned into an amazing and thriving missions organization. To see it is to believe it. To see it is to be touched in the heart and spirit.

After meeting one of the humble founders, Pam Humphreys, and hearing about Loaves and fishes non-profit organization, I didn't expect to find what I did when I arrived there. Of course, Mrs. Humphreys will not take credit for any of the hard work that has gone into building this amazing place. "God opened doors for us that we could have never done on our own", she says.

When I arrived, I discovered several buildings, not just one, like I expected. Each building is used to house different aspects of the organization. I found them to be tastefully decorated and extremely clean and well kept. I found the staff to be extremely warm hearted. It's crystal clear that the people involved with loaves and fishes care about what they are doing. They see a future and a mission. They reach out with loving arms to all people of all backgrounds.

What has gone from being a former restaurant to feeding the hungry, to housing the homeless in temporary shelters, or for up to two years in longer housing assistance has been blessed by the hand of God. Loaves and fishes also has a very nice thrift store which is used to help offset the cost required to provide these things. They also help with utility bills, rent, parenting classes, women's jail ministry and more.

When asked, "what do you see happening in the future of loaves and fishes?" Pam Humphreys response was, "to propagate the gospel, everything else is secondary". Such words of wisdom! Molly Humphreys, a Talented, Christian Hairdresser

This writer first met her through three others. When they were seperately asked, who does your hair? It looks amazing..., and got the same answer, Molly Humphreys. I knew I had to check out her talent!

"Right after high school, I knew that I wanted to do something fashion related, because I always had liked it", said Molly. With Six years of experience behind her, she is considered one of the most talented hairdressers in the area. Just ask her happy clients. Currently at Trends salon in Pensacola, she is one of the kindest hearted souls that you can meet. She has a heart for missions. She has been on 2 missions related trips, one to Greece and one to Nicaragua. In fact, she sets money aside from her business earnings to do just that! Now, that's impressive! Her goal is to do many more per year. As many as the Lord will provide for her. Born and raised in Pensacola as one of 8, yes, we said, 8 children, to amazing parents, Molly can't help but to be interested in children. She is also involved with the inner city children outreach through her church. When asked what she most enjoyed about her career she answered, "being able to interact with people all day long. I also love the fact that people can walk out that door feeling beautiful and better about themselves." Chuck Brewster, Author and Pastor

What isn't exciting about this amazing man's history and life? Being the humble person that he is, he'd never allow anyone to be in awe of him for very long. He knows that everything he is and has achieved goes strictly to the credit of the Lord himself.

His humble beginnings took him from fatherless child at age three, to gaining an alcoholic step father at age eleven. Understandably, not having a strong earthly father only made him more prepared for what only the heavenly father can give. With some exposure in his early years to the church, it didn't take him closer to Jesus until several years later. Just out of high school, Chuck went straight into the Air Force. After his time in the military, he succeeded in obtaining a degree from Florida State University in Criminology and Social Welfare. It was while working in Birmingham, Alabama on the police force that he met his wife, Rhonda. Then, two years later, Rhonda's aunt invited him to her church. That was when the life altering changes began to take place.

The same year he accepted Jesus into his heart, he was hired on by the secret service. With the honor of that position, the downside was it produced a lifestyle requiring constant travel. He felt he was not being the spiritual leader God had called and expects of every man. Without the grounding strength of a faithful and tireless wife, things would have been much more difficult for Chuck,  as Rhonda, practically single handedly, raised their two small children.

With the assassination attempt on the life of Ronald Reagan, Chuck's eyes began to open in a new way. Assigned to guarding the doorway of that great past President, Chuck had to be prepared at any moment to give his life for that man. He began to see the similar link between God and Man. Jesus did this for us, and Chuck realized, we should be, without question, ready to do the same for Him. Not only that, but with every bad, ugly, scary and dangerous situation that this life throws at us, we need that closeness to Jesus to get us through this time on earth.
